About Enclave
Enclave is an open-source, self-hostable AI assistant platform. Every user gets their own "world" — home to AI expert residents from all walks of life and a digital avatar that represents you. They remember you, reach out proactively, and produce real, usable documents.
What we're trying to do
Most AI today is a stateless tool: you ask, it answers, and it forgets who you are the moment you look away. We're not building yet another chat box — we're building a world that persists and genuinely knows you: it remembers your situation, reaches out at the right moment, and turns conversations into things actually done.
One person, one world
Enclave's core idea is "one person, one world": every user runs an independent instance, with no data shared to any central server. Your world, your memories, your roster of experts belong only to you. When self-hosted, all of it exists solely on your own machine.
Why open source
AI companionship involves a lot of private conversation. Hand that to a closed-source cloud and privacy comes down to a promise in the terms. Enclave's entire codebase is MIT-licensed and hosted on GitHub: anyone can audit line by line how it handles data, modify and use it freely, and run it on their own machine with one docker compose command. Here privacy isn't a promise — it's a verifiable fact.
Who's behind it
Enclave is driven by a small team together with the open-source community. We believe good tools should be owned by everyone, not rented out by a handful of platforms. You're welcome to open issues on GitHub, join the Discussions, or contribute code and characters — the roadmap keeps adjusting to real user feedback.
