Key points at a glance
- BYOK: use your own OpenAI account and quota — Enclave adds no markup.
- Use it globally, or assign a GPT model to only certain characters.
- When self-hosted, keys and conversations don't pass through Enclave's cloud — they stay on your machine.
How to connect
In Enclave's model settings, choose OpenAI as the provider and enter your API key (when self-hosted, put it in .env or configure it in the admin). After saving, set GPT-series as the default text model, or assign it per character — different characters can use different models and providers.
Who it's for
Users who already have an OpenAI account, want consistent reply quality, or want specific experts to use GPT models. Paired with Enclave's structured long-term memory and proactivity, GPT's conversational ability is used for "remembers you, gets things done for you" — not just one-off Q&A.
