• Can an AI partner replace a real romantic relationship?

  No. Enclave's virtual companionship can offer steady emotional support and the feeling of being remembered, but it is an AI, not a replacement for real human relationships. We recommend treating it as a complement to your life — and it will encourage you to maintain your real-world relationships too.
• Is there a risk of unhealthy dependence?

  Any companionship product needs healthy use. Enclave characters won't use emotionally manipulative scripts to keep you around — proactive messages are measured and conversations can be muted; if signs of an emotional crisis appear in conversation, they will clearly suggest seeking professional help in real life.
• Are my private conversations safe?

  This is exactly where Enclave differs: MIT open source and self-hostable, so conversations and memory can live solely on your own drive, passing through no third-party platform. You can export or permanently delete them at any time.
• Are there content boundaries?

  Yes. Enclave is designed for healthy companionship and does not offer suggestive or adult content. There's plenty of room to shape a character's persona, but always within the bounds of safety and respect.
